Modern ICEs are already insanely sophisticated, in pushing the boundaries with all kinds of tiny tricks, just to get a small percent extra. There is only that much you can get by changing the valve timing, freevalve, compression ratio, air

There is a significant difference between checkboxes and toggles. Checkboxes expect a secondary submit step, whereas toggles have instant effect. https://blog.uxtweak.com/checkbox-vs-toggle-switch/ explains this better

Restart the computer on a daily basis? Like it’s 1998? You need a different system man. Ubuntu can go strong for a month easily, with only sleep for leaving it unused. Only reason for restarts is security updates or that your battery ran to

Automatic reconciliation is like half the reason Kubernetes exists. A well designed system should handle this, not having expectations in order for example. I’ve seen several clusters where one could kill more or less everything and it woul

If you work as a developer and can’t do your job because of a dumb pattern matching WAF out of your control, you should find yourself a new job or set up a parallel IT infrastructure.

The fear of increasing the binary size sounds like a self-imposed constraint. How bad is it to include both versions in same crate?

JS makes it easier because it was always single threaded and never had any sync IO to begin with. This means, before async existed, any library doing IO had to be based on callbacks. Then came Promises, which are essentially glorified callb

If you want to log in from a different browser or device they need to agree on how this hashing works. This also means that everyone else knows how this hashing works and can construct rainbow tables for it. Still better than plain text but

This is why 2FA is so so important. Something you have physically and something you remember. Doesn’t matter if one of them is weak or can be lost, the combination will be stronger than a single difficult password.

Why not include a timestamp in the hash? Everybody has synchronized clocks, round it to 5 minutes to add some margin. That should make any attempts of pre-computed rainbow tables very expensive and only usable for a short time window.

A whole power rack would indeed be neat but also very excessive unless you have the space. A pair of dumbbells under the sofa will take you a long way. Running on a treadmill, no thanks, just go outdoors.
