Surely you should be using attr_accessible with config.active_record.whitelist_attributes = true anyway? I can't imagine a situation where you'd want to have to manually blacklist attributes over whitelisting them.

The only problem I could see is that the meteor api is still potentially subject to major changes which could make large parts of the book invalid in a short period of time.

I was not saying that. Rather I was pointing out that having exclusive content in the magazine is not a valid argument against making the site work properly in every browser and discontinuing the iOS version.

Depends what network you are on. I'm on 3 and you have to opt in to the filter, it is not enabled by default on contracts.

I agree, one of the main reasons I decided to use TorqueBox was because of this. Requires minimal configuration and I get distributed cache, clustered messaging system, HA scheduled jobs and HA services.

Not sure I agree with their Phusion Passenger vs J2EE. I use torquebox and deploying is just as easy, if not easier. You can instantly deploy an application by executing "torquebox deploy /path/to/your/ruby/app/" or by placing a 2 line .yml

Any reason why? OpenJDK is the reference implementation of Java 7, so if you are targeting Java 7 why not use it?
