The argument against this reason is that Apple used Nvidia GPUs in their MacBooks from 2012 to 2014(?). This was years after the broken GPU time.

Apple had a long patent and design mark infringement fight with Samsung all while using Samsung fabs for their SOCs, flash, and LCD panels. Nothing personal, just business.

AMD bet on APUs more than a decade ago, hoping to grab the market with better GPUs than Intel, and have been offering a better product about as long. But the reality is that vast majority of business desktops and laptop don't need anyt

RISC-V instructions are either 32 or 16 bits, and the size of the instruction is determined by 2 bits in a fixed place (the LSBs of the instruction word IIRC.) Much easier than x86-64.

They are probably using A[19] as chip select for one device, A[18] for a different one, etc. So if you read from 0x000c0000, you get a conflict. I wouldn't call it a bug if it's done deliberately to save some gates. :-)

Last quarter, Nvidia’s datacenter segment exceeded $1B in revenue for the first time, and it’s close to overtaking the gaming segment as largest business segment. Marketing fad or not, it’s not a bad business to be in.

It may convert your own code, but it can’t convert the CUDA libraries. It also doesn’t help that AMD has stopped supporting ROCm for the current consumer GPUs.

Many years ago, we had a custom made board with 8 huge Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGAs (the largest available at the time) to emulate a large SOC. Those FPGAs were something like $20K a piece. We had 10 such boards, good for millions of dollars in ha
