Many games use WASD under the left hand for motion, but that's to leave the right hand free to use the mouse. I've never tried mousing and cursoring in an editor before. Hmm.

One thing that stands out for me is the ratio of onshore to offshore engineers. I have only worked in a few organizations with offshore teams but the experience has always been frustrating. First, if you're working in an organization l

I don't know why they didn't just take this opportunity to call it version 1. It seems like the right time. The React Router folks just went through this, with a significant struggle in moving quickly from version 1 to version 2.

I absolutely think it would be worth it. The data format change would be one thing. There are many other factors which are worth considering. For example, the long lived connections of XMPP don't work well in the mobile environment. Th

As you know, there's a lot of good in XMPP. The part that I think causes the most difficulty is that it's based on XML. I don't mean this in the typical knee-jerk XML bashing sense. It's just that XML is ill suited for a

It seems to be one of the front contenders among the Flux alternatives now. Another one is Relay/GraphQL. Redux adheres to the basic unidirectional data flow philosophy of Flux. Where it mainly differs is that there is one store. All s

Fair enough. I basically agree. If you find a better solution when you have to code 8-12 hours a day, let me know. Edit: Also, some people pay to walk on treadmills.

Yes, true. The place where I'm working laughs at the concept of a TD. Many more forward thinking companies have workout areas and places to take brief naps. Maybe in the future there will be TD areas. This could help manage the noise a

I've read that some people have trouble with this. It hasn't been a problem for me. I'm typing at my TD now. I'm not as quick when I'm typing or mousing, but I can write code without issue. Also, much of my actual d

The best solution that I've come across so far is the treadmill desk. Standing desks are not much better than sitting desks. You're still basically inactive. They might be better for your back, though. Treadmill desks don't g

I agree that it does sound strange to an English ear, but that's just because we're used to our system. In English, after 11 and 12, we have three-ten, four-ten, etc. Just aged for seasoning.

Good point. CE and NT are definitely not for embedded devices, in the conventional sense of the word. They're also not real-time (as you know), but then neither is Linux. Embedded really is a whole other world. It's a fun space to
