The stencil painted dialog is interesting, like a very slow forum exchange. The other graffiti artists involved contrast the calm war with their more extreme contributions. I wonder if there is meaning to them being ignored or if we just

It would be helpful to quantify "sucks" in there. Otherwise it's simply an opinion. As an exercise, just write your own XMLHttpRequest interface. It will take you about 20 lines or less, even doing it in the most naive way

This would logically mean they can make their pumps really cheaply and long-lasting, or they wouldn't have the markup to be able to do this. I'm not sure how I feel about their position, but I know I'm less comfortable about

Funny that WhatsApp is somehow WAY more valuable than AOL is. I feel old.

Indeed, you can tell more about the poster than about the demographic they would like to be referring to. "Does not follow" arguments are often like that. Still full of data, just not on the subject as much as on the speaker.

Eh, I'm no conspiracy theorist nor am I supposing foul play or pithiness or anything. I'm merely noting they're likely influenced by background conversation nobody's really paying attention to but the related folks. Te

Today. Timestamped almost right with this article. I'm sure it is correlated and not causal, but I'm also pretty sure the root cause for both is the same.

I've never understood why anyone wouldn't just use OpenBSD if you're going to use a BSD. I'm sure there are reasons, there must be, but OpenBSD has a long history of having really great source code that's useful ju

I'm pretty sure his surprise is that it mostly works out of the gate, not that it is a completely tailored experience to his desires. Having it boot to a desktop and have network access is a pretty big deal, especially with the expect

I worked for a company that had a media encoding lab approved by 5 of the major Hollywood studios, and I can assure you, this is purely studios not approving PCs and not allowing Amazon or Netflix to talk about it. Good lord do studios hat

His point is that those values don't exist in most of the community as exemplified by their code and blogs, and this is largely because the language encourages straying from those values. I should note that I agree, and I'm a Pyth

I don't think 'nobody' is name-calling. It's accurately, if not tactfully, describing a status of fame and recognition. He is not famous at all, and regardless of what we may or may not like about chiptunes and electro

You say you do not have freedom in where you work, and that basically is the reason it is true for you. The biggest limitations are the ones we build for ourselves. I'd suggest instead of thinking of it like a job, think of it like it

I like this article specifically because it is the only APPROPRIATE level of "women have it different" I've ever seen (I don't read a lot on the topic, to be fair). It doesn't detract from men (or even compare to t

This article has some flaws. For instance, Carmack isn't getting sued, Oculus/Facebook is. Also, I didn't get the impression that Carmack was "angry" when he tweeted that. I always get the impression that he is pr

This is probably the most relevant article of the 6 or so I've read in the comments. It shows both sides as human and lacking good social management constructs for the situation. Reading several weeks of Horvath's twitter feed an

My only advice would be to ditch libc dependencies and build out things from scratch, and try for simpler approaches. I think you'll find the excercise good for you as a programmer, and good for your project here. Looking at a current lib

It appears to be a subset of libc that depends on libc and is slower than libc in almost all respects. I'm not sure what the author was going for here, but it would be advisable to use libc instead of Refu in all instances where one might
