Really cool project and happy to provide some feedback! I like the simple but clean interface. I'm having decent success for searched songs so far. Sometimes I'm not sure why the top songs were picked for similarity but as I go fu

Seems like there are two problems you're trying to solve: 1. getting traffic/discoverability 2. a nice platform upon which to blog I think if you solve the two with separate tools you might get better options. For example for a ni

I certainly see your point that any unsatisfactorily complete benefit-drawback list is going to seem like a strawman. I meant to point out some of the more commonly stated benefits and contrast them to the less commonly considered drawbacks

Well one advantage could be that you get the tooling around versioning in case you want automatic minor version updates or stuff like that. And I guess others might find value in inserting it using their bundler as described in the docs if

I wish more designers would look at these minimalist frameworks and add helpful feedback like this. I feel like the aesthetics of a lot of them could be improved with more attention from designers.

A lot of people like the larger, more thorough frameworks because: 1. they think it makes newer devs can feel safer 2. dev teams can simply agree on an pre-made modus-operandi for all css without having to have discussions/evolutions o

I can definitely relate to the tedium and nervousness around following long dependency chains. It really makes reading code so much slower. I'm a little surprised that he finds the lack of types such a hindrance. For me, without types

With interest rates so low these days, are student loans still problematic? Seems like a nice way to defer having to pay while in school, but I'd love to learn more about the issue.

Before clicking the link, I thought this was going to be like Brainfuck but instead of having crazy syntax that fucked with your brain, it would have crazy tooling and yak-shaving that quickly made you lose heart before ever being able to a

But this was specifically in reference to introducing statically-typed tech into something that didn't have it (the original quote was "companies have been backporting typescript/mypy/sorbet onto existing dynamic codebas

Agreed, just because more companies are adopting something and saying it helps doesn't mean it actually helps. There's too much incentive for spin and arguable claims of success. Additionally for things like static typing, the lar

On the teams I've been on that mobbed extensively there were still people who preferred to work alone. Fortunately the other team members respected that everyone has a different preference and work style. Sometimes it's good to st

Probably because after all the time it's been around it still has some issues preventing wider usage, such as not working well in Firefox Android and lack of much customizability. Hopefully the increased publicity will help with some o

I was initially confused about this too. The title of the corresponding video of the article replaces "over at" with "in", which is much clearer. In other words, it's not "over" anything it's "ov

Since we're talking about epic poetry, Tolkien's experience and skill with writing poetry is also worth mentioning, which can be found throughout his works, especially in his great mythopoeic work The Silmarillion.

It's wonderful to hear from an actual published comic artist! This is what I love about HN. Thanks very much for the feedback. I especially like the idea of being able to switch units to inches instead of pixels- I'll probably ad

You can assign an image to each panel by double-clicking the panel and uploading the image. It does the masking through svg. You can then save off the SVG by going to preview mode and saving. Sorry that wasn't intuitive. TBH I was tryi

Egon, that's really cool! It reminds me of when I used to use Manga Studio- iirc it had a layout editor with a similar approach where it would split panels based on a separator line you could drag at various angles. Glad to see someone
