You can bypass the TPM requirement and it works fine. Of course who knows about future updates.

VNC is built in to GNOME. You just enable it in the control panel. It certainly isn’t RDP though.

Fedora updates the kernel mid-cycle so could be weeks to months depending on various factors. Mesa versions would be 6 months usually though.

Depends on your goal. Linux can be a project’s primary platform, or you can do a native UI on each platform.

It isn’t any language. It is the GObject Introspection data formatted as pseudo code similar to Vala.

GTK4 is much more performant on macOS in general.

The biggest changes are to rendering. GTK 1-3 used Cairo to do CPU rendering. It is slow and incapable of modern rendering features. GTK4 makes good use of the GPU with OpenGL (and kinda Vulkan). It has been a huge win for performance impro

GTK4 has caused a burst of many new applications. It has been good for the community.

More new GTK4 applications have been made in the past year than GTK3 in the previous 5 years. It is a big success.

GTK4 got a massive macOS rewrite and is in the best position it has ever been. It has no big users yet and could use some contributions though to quickly catch regressions.

That is nonsense, the toolkit is like a million lines of code, constantly falling further behind. GTK2 doesn’t support a modern Linux machine well (Wayland, hidpi, GPU rendering).

Smart cars are no longer sold in the US. In general options are limited. Previously compact cars like the Civic are now midsize. And even then they produce them in low volumes so they are always sold with a markup.

Of course it still is… smaller cars, smaller batteries, better all around.

A core redesign of GTK2->3->4 was moving from a model built around X11/xlib to one built around Wayland. GtkStatusIcon only functioned correctly on one backend, X11. It was very poorly supported on win32 and macOS. Other clear ex

GTK is maintained by 2-5 people. They cannot maintain every API forever. win32 is also a terrible example of good API, just stable.

GNOME has developed it for decades. They broke API twice. Fewer times than Qt.

Glade can’t render both GTK3 and GTK4 in the same process and wasn’t actively maintained. Cambalanche was a replacement supporting both.

That just isn’t true, you clearly haven’t used GTK. FLTK has never done core redesigns like GTK.

That is a very broad question. For something the size and complexity of gimp with lots of rendering it is still a big task. Broadly speaking I think 3->4 is often easier though.

They slightly cheated and added some new features to 3.24.x to ease the transition and integrate into newer tech better like sandboxing.

They are still going to be sandboxes, regular permissioned, apps. Nothing changes for most apps except they get a 100% cut of in-app sales.

Moving from C++ is the most reasonable choice ever. It is very complex and 20 developers who use it could come up with 20 solutions given freedom. Standardizing on a simple language is just good for collaboration.
