No physical store sells most of what’s on Amazon. That doesn’t imply it’s bad either.

My point was the exact same sentiment applies to X. It lacks things Wayland does. So X is only fine for some people.

Immutable saves you from packaging issues but configuration always has to happen to some degree. To help there maybe use file system snapshots (btrfs) to rollback changes.

There is no meaningful support subscription for end users, only enterprise. If you want to donate pick specific small projects you like. I don’t understand how someone breaks a system but look into immutable options like Fedora Silverblue.

It’s very fair you can say “X works for me” but everyone saying otherwise is in the wrong.

That’s a 20 million dollar problem, but plenty of projects would be better with a few hundred thousand to pay staff and infra.

As a WebKit developer Id literally fix bugs and make it better. We cannot, so they just lost interest from most developers that could help them.

Youtube with 4k has always worked. Renting commercial videos on Youtube uses DRM.

> Even if you never use orion, you want this to succeed because it forces WebKitGTK upstream to get better, which benefits the entire open source ecosystem. I don’t understand this logic. AFAIK Orion is doing downstream work and has not

Plenty of drivers are proprietary. There are many ways of doing so, like much of it can exist in userspace, or in firmware, or using a shim in the kernel.

Same here. C++ changes fast and can be written in many styles so not a ton of training data I assume.

A virtual machine is a much better security boundry than a container. Will that often matter… maybe not. I’m sure other tools wrap docker.

“Wayland” cannot crash, its a protocol. Your complaints are to your compositor.

Does it really have to be said that a PR is built upon previous work. It was not a 400 line delta for the whole feature.

> Surely there’s a way to monetise it without ads I honestly don’t think so for any consumer focused ones. Including it with bespoke hardware kinda works but is so expensive to actually do.

Apple open sourced their WebExtension implementation, they seem open to contributions. I worry Orion doesn’t want to contribute upstream though.

Yes it lets you do it. It doesn’t work. https://browser.kagi.com/WebExtensions-API-Support.html The webRequest API is key, dns is used, maybe a few more. Looks like the macOS support has improved but iOS may never happen.
