That's beside the point. Walking/running requires energy and is exhausting. The car provides its own energy, so driving is easy and relaxing. I know which one I'd prefer!

Unfortunately it seems that every online explanation of QR codes always leaves out the Reed-Solomon error code calculation. The author here describes it as “long, tedious, and not very interesting”, but since everyone seems to think that, i

The article perpetuates the widespread misconception that dinosaurs are extinct. In reality, (some) dinosaurs survived and evolved into modern birds. Everything from penguins to ostriches, hummingbirds to albatrosses and woodpeckers to eagl

The dinosaurs were not “wiped off”, by which I mean they are not extinct. This is an extremely widespread misconception that popular science articles like this one keep perpetuating. We should do better and help people understand that (some

In terms of the programming paradigm this is not dissimilar to Funciton: https://codeberg.org/Timwi/Funciton https://esolangs.org/wiki/Funciton

While you're conceptually right, in practice I think it bears mentioning that in C# the two syntaxes compile differently. This is because C#’s target platform, the .NET Framework, has always had a function called `string.Format` that l

I doubt that Funciton, in its current form, could be useful in education. It doesn’t embody the most widely used programming paradigm (procedural) but instead is a declarative functional language, which makes any skills obtained by studying

Somebody already mentioned this inside of a thread, but I want to point it out separately: neither the blog post nor the original image mention what counts as a “passing grade”. It's not wild to think that this was very different in 19

I would like to see an in-depth treatise explaining why existing bytecode VMs (LLVM, JavaVM and Ecma CLR) were never seriously considered for the world of browsers. These VMs already exist for numerous platforms, have been optimized to deat

Which is ironic because I use Google Sheets a lot and occasionally run into problems when it doesn't support BigInt calculations. Sheets is the best excuse Google has for keeping BigInt support in the language.

Although that's a good call as I hadn't considered that, I still don't see why you want to use a mask. Surely you just need two tiny SVG files and show only one or the other. And since they're tiny, I would absolutely em

What makes me really sad is that you've identified a problem with capitalism but decide to push it onto your customers. It's true that most users won't rate unless asked, but that just means they don't want to and it

It's already been mentioned that instead of box-shadow perhaps outline is a better choice for the image frame. For the icons, I don't understand why the author believes that they need to have two copies of the icon inside the SVG.

I have two super nitpicky things to say. 1) The website is slightly wide on my phone, so it wiggles left and right when I scroll. I usually fix this by pinch-zooming out the tiny amount necessary to align it to my viewport width, but your w
