Hey HN! You’ve been amazing at providing us with your awesome feedback on the first version of Duckist.com and hoped you’d be just as active in sharing your thoughts on the new version. Our original idea was to make it easier for companies

Sad it happened. This highlights why it is important to reduce your exposure to external services. Right now I just deploy on bare metals servers and are ready to move them if need to. As they say, there's no cloud - just someone'

I'd say even more relevant. Why? Because 7 years ago our scaling/technology was worse than what we potentially can do now. If you want you can scale with a small team if you focus on the actual problems instead of overengineering

I have many fond memories of making bots for games. Like fishing in World of Warcraft. I haven't used it for like 5 years, but I should check it out again - maybe not for games this time but maybe for auto-posting on Social Media for m

These are good points. what would change your mind besides the long term? What if you for example were in a team with multiple devs working on the backend? And what do you consider long-term? :)

In 2022 and start of 2023 we have moved all of our servers away from Docker Compose to just running bare metals. Yes a bit more setup in the start, but it makes it easier to maintain the servers. It really feels like all of these good ideas
