That is not a paradox. It's just the fact that a theory about something might not hold when you take a closer look at that something. In the articles example, the admission rates of a university seemed to indicate that there is a bias

First of all, it's the other way round. This extension will execute the ads and send data to advertisers. If you don't want that, you need to use an ad blocker, not an ad clicker. And second, you trust them with totally differen

"Install AdNauseam 3.7" 3rd party ads are bad for privacy. But browser extensions are even worse. They can see everything you do on any website. They can change what you see. Redirect you. Send data wherever they want. Without you

Googles browser offers functionality to Googles websites that it does not offer to any other website. When you log into an Google owned site, it interacts with the browser so that you are 'logged into your browser' with that Googl

What is a 'field'? I get the feeling that Buefy's approach is to use custom elements instead of native elements? So something like an <input> element becomes some <b-field> thing? I am sceptical if that is a good

The one problem that is left with PWAs is that they do not support local file access. So they have to store data in the browsers local storage. And that is wiped out when the user deletes their browsing data.

I have been building websites for most of my adult life. And I use Vue for some projects. But I have no clue what this is about. What is a 'b-field'?

My favorite movie recommender is Gnovies: http://www.gnovies.com Apparently it uses AI to predict which movies you like. In contrast to taste.io you don't need to sign up. You can get recommendations right away.

The same might hold true for cutting down from 4 days to 3 days. Everytime we humans try something new, we are excited and energized. Since the average office worker is only productive 3 hours per day, there always is a lot of room for incr

I don't see Docker as part of deployment. Docker is a way to run something in a sandbox. My app runs on an operating system. I include a setup script that prepares the OS so my app can run. If the OS runs on bare metal, inside a VM or

How much faster is everything? If running code via Docker takes 10ms and via VirtualBox it takes 40ms that would make no difference at all, even though it is 4x slower.

Gmail can do that because they can see into the inboxes of many million of people. So if a mail is flagged as spam somewhere, it can use that info as a signal to classify it as spam in my inbox. That is not the content based plan for spam P

It sounds good but ... ...it did not work out. 17 years later and spam is still annoying. I use ThunderBird and tag every spam message as spam. Still, some spam messages get through. And because there are false positives sometimes, I always

What is the ip of the host? I am pretty sure the guest is seeing a lan that only contains itself.

What is 'guest' here? As far as I know, the VM does not have an IP on the lan.

That was true for Yahoo too. But only up to some point. Then they not only released deleted emails, but even emails that have not been used for a while. That made me lose my Yahoo email to somebody else and caused all kinds of headaches.
