I don't know Mr. Wanstrath specifically, but it really isn't about hacking awesome OSS projects. It's about feel and attitude. _why was footloose, insane, and absolutely fun.

This kind of sparks with that whole "developer email client" thing I was talking about in another thread. Forums are in HTML and HTML is about formatting for reading. As most know, code has different reading standards than legible text, mak

Just checked it out...Mmmm, clicky. Very mouse intensive to navigate. Also very stuffy on 1024x600 (Netbook).

If he's getting into programming I'd suggest nano as your starter text based editor, moving up to vim.

Yeah, I've read it. I've also realized most of it doesn't matter. What points I lose here can be made up x10 in one or two comments agreeing/pushing popular opinion.

I love "everything is just fine, all you have to use is (20 year old|text based software)" comments, especially when the suggested software has an FAQ with this entry: + I'm an average user. Why should I switch to Mutt? The top two reasons

It's not about usability for non-technical people. It's about focus on developers. Can Thunderbird do syntax highlighting in email? Fuck no. And suggesting that technical people should use emacs is dumb. Seriously dumb.

I agree with the post that there needs to be a developer specific e-mail client, open source and designed from the ground up. I disagree on: * Cocoa specific design * IMAP based specs * The community tools he's using. This is a perfec

Yes, you are. Thunderbird is a e-mail client that attempts to please the "masses". You may have noticed but the "masses" aren't developers, they aren't coders, they aren't testers, or designers. They send e-mails to mother's web-tv, tell th

This looks pretty good, I like how it structures out. You should write an example pastebin or some other simple web app that could easily be done in PHP.

Google is essentially forcing Survival Of The Fittest without having to spend energy to fight themselves, or in geek history terms, Google is forcing Microsoft on Apple.

Well I know you're not mentally challenged, or crazy, so I'm going to guess that you're in one of those "everyone-is-wrong-no-one-can-change-my-opinion" mindsets. Ruby as easy to read as Java and C, bwHA.

Now you're just being argumentative. You honestly think Ruby is as readable as Brainfuck? Java? C?
