That is not the case. Destructors run for things that go out of scope. When you create a reference to something ("borrowing") that reference is associated with a lifetime. This lifetime represents how long the reference is valid.

Do you honestly think that without US companies, there will be no search engines and social networks? Here in the Netherlands we had Hyves[1] before we had Facebook, which was pretty big. If, for whatever reason, Facebook were to vanish tom

Euro coins only go up to 2 euros, does that really make such a difference? Here in the Netherlands we don't really use the 1 and 2 eurocent coins anymore. It was decided that they're just annoying, so (almost?) all shops always ro

Floating point numbers can accurately represent integers, so if you have all your prices in cents, you end up with (x * 3) / 3, where each number in that calculation is an integer. No inaccuracy there. Of course there is no reason for

How would a "three-for-one" action end up with floating point inaccuracies? I imagine the price for three items would tend to be dividable by three.

And then, in that very very rare case, the customer pays one cent more, or one cent less, and nothing bad happens? And since all amounts are in a whole number of cents, you can round to an integer after each such multiplication, and the flo

I doubt the floating point errors are going to make much of a difference with the numbers the average register has to deal with. Javascript can represent integers up to 9007199254740991 accurately, so if you do all your calculations in cent

Adobe is about 34 years old, so the copyright on any program that interacts with an Adobe file format (e.g. postscript, pdf) cannot have expired yet (in the absence of time travel). So if the source code did not come with a license, it is

Hardly impossible, just prefix the expression with `[` and suffix with `]` and the warning is gone. Or with `(` and `,)` (creating a tuple of arity one).

Wouldn't the same reasoning apply to all communication? Do you keep transcripts and/or recordings of all private conversations you have (in meatspace) so that you can hand those to the government when they show up with a warrant?
