Doh. I am only familiar with Azure, and was confusing ECS with ordinary VMs. Sorry about the stupid question!

Do you still recommend they host their applications in containers (e.g. Docker)? I feel like it's fairly low effort to start out that way, but can be a pain to add later.

What is their definition of a workload? Do they want a cluster per microservice? Per application? Per customer?

What is the incentive for the main project to build their software this way? It would likely be a lot of work to split up the software in modules like that. They would either regularly break backwards compatibility, negating the advantages

That seems like a lot of extra typing for the rest of our lives to prevent a one-time moment of confusion for newbies.

Is it? For bicycle helmets I just know these variants: 1. Wearing a bicycle helmet is unpleasant, so people will cycle less and possibly use other modes of transportation such as cars. The risk of a traumatic head injury may decrease but th

You jest, but that used to be an argument against making seatbelts mandatory in cars. I suppose people would drive even more safely if there was a sharp metal spike sticking out of the center of the steering wheel.

And someone upthread claimed their image search was so great in comparison to google... because google also censors their results. They just censor different things.

Even if the CDN can't (for whatever reason) one could easily include a tracking pixel on every page that is marked as `Cache-Control: no-cache`, or insert a few lines of JS to do the same.

Don't leave us hanging like that. Which major religions do you personally consider not to be a fairy tale? Please also include, for each such religion, if you happen to believe in it, and whether it was the religion you grew up with (i

The brain is a pretty messy place. While our bodies try hard to preserve homeostasis, conditions will always vary slightly. Hormones affect our brains and can vary in concentration from moment to moment. Type 1 diabetics can easily have the

When is a runner 10 times better, then? For comparison, the mythical 10x developer can literally do tasks in 1/10th of the time.

For the 10x programmer thing, the premise (as I understand it) is that the programmer can produce a working program in 1/10th of the time of a (terrible/average, the exact definition varies) programmer. So literally 10 times as fa

You mention sports. I don't think most sports have a 10x difference between the worst and best professional athletes. Being 10 times faster or 10 times stronger is beyond human limits.

I can't really be bothered to take a look at the tests, but I strongly doubt there are actually 500 features. A large part of those tests are probably trying combinations of features. E.g. suppose markdown only had tables as a featur

AGPL isn't even compatible with GPLv2, so you still have to worry about OSS license compatibility. So given that you have to worry anyway, you might as well pick a less obnoxious license.

In YAML 1.2 they fixed it (and also the Norway-problem of "no" meaning false) but many places are still using an older version.

They don't exist in most societies though. Just because your society happens to have such public registries, doesn't make it some objective truth that such registries are a good idea.

Wouldn't the most efficient way to mine such a coin be to be in an area with above average CO2 levels? Such as a closed room where you are burning oil/gas/wood? Have you heard of the cobra effect? See https://en.m.

Since YAML is (almost?) a superset of JSON, you can treat it as "JSON with comments". Then it no longer has significant whitespace and strings won't magically coerce to booleans because the quotes are mandatory in JSON... so

Key sizes are generally chosen so that brute force is infeasable even with enormous speed advancements. You cannot increment a counter to 2^256. There isn't enough energy in our solar system. So you cannot brute force 256 bit symmetric

If that means that there will be no check in advance for printf: hell yes. Perhaps the error printing during a parallel build could also be improved somehow.
