> This is the omnipotence paradox[1]. I often help friends and relatives understand why my religion (or lack thereof, actually) is `Tooth Fairy Agnosticism' by asking them whether or not God can create a stone that He can't lift. Lol, I

Hear hear, Perl developer here. I've used C/C++/ObjC/Java/Erlang and I just love Perl for gluing it all together. I must admit my stack is outdated, I still use CGI::Application, though I love Moose. I haven't kept us since catalyst, etc st

Kinda interesting, sorta reminds me of Knuth's book on bible verses.

Well, I've been working as a full time dev for 3 years now and never went to college. What I did was start low as a jr. system admin for linux systems. I'm not very social so I never made 'connections' so I hade to improve my skills. So

I use Chase, and they tried to get me with this once. I had to call and yell at them and basically asked them how it's possible that they know I don't have funds and still let the transaction go through. I told them that their systems were

Pretty neat, I'm most interested in Daniel. Prior to the dead sea scrolls people would speculate the prophecies in Daniel were written after the fact. The carbon dating in the dead sea scrolls seemed to prove otherwise.

Well, since the concept of sin is well defined in the bible it is silly to equate it to what some silly people say it is. >Scripture does not define typical Christian behavior; let's not conflate the two. Exactly, thank you. Blurring th

I'm sorry, but you say that you're versed in scripture? Well, clearly you're not. You would know that we are ALL sinners and that Jesus Christ died for our sins. You are not versed in scripture, nor do you have knowledge of what sin is.

Nope, my opinion shouldn't. But the fact that he isn't hacking at anything should. Hence the comment, as a programmer I couldn't care less about him.

This isn't reddit, this isn't related to programming or even computers. Yes, I'm Christian and I find this guy annoying. As a programmer though, I couldn't care less about him.

Cool, I can't say enough good things about Linode. I've been using it with great results. I have gotten some random reboots though, but I'm using the basic plan and it hasn't been bad at all for the price.

Work as a mobile apps developer fulltime. I mainly do Android and iPhone, but I've done BlackBerry and iPad as well. For my spare time I work on my 2d android mmorpg: http://developingthedream.blogspot.com/

Perl rocks, I can testify to this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Vtq6sCdzyKs/TK8Fooqqt9I/AAAAAAAAAG... I built a 2D mmorpg using Perl and Erlang. The languages a lot of people whine about when it comes to syntax. Syntax is the LAST thing I h

Care to rebuke? BTW, read hackbod's comment. She's an Android engineer. This guy is flat out wrong and failed to read documentation. She puts it much nicer than I can.

WTF? This guy is an idiot. I make iOS and Android applications for a living. It is ridiculous to have to create a service to make a few HTTP calls. For that, Android/Java provides various threading classes so that you can keep multi-threa

None, like I said I was just curious why people thought that. Now I get it, people are willingly lazy and stupid. I guess I think too much of people, I'd expect them to get past page 1 in the bible.

Well being ignorant on purpose is not the trait of a good scientist or engineer. I am not asking why this person doesn't believe in God, but rather why they believe what they believe (that we're supposed to 'perfect'.) This has little or

I would have to completely agree with you. That's why I use the bible for at least a common ground. Or a read the fucking manual moment when people just start spewing random crap. Just doesn't help their case.

Wait, so it's not relevant to ask why people think a way they think? I mean if someone makes such an uneducated assumption it makes me question their logic in general.

Why wouldn't the fall change our bodies. Didn't God say if you eat of it you will surely die? There are hundreds of other passages both in the new and old testament that say we are disease ridden evil individuals.

No, I like the article and I'm not arguing against it. Just wondering where people get the idea that we were somehow designed to be perfect. The bible has a lot to do with that since it's a standard upon which (at least for the most part i
