Universities, especially French ones, are far worse for teaching programmming, for several reasons: - they are highly theoretical and biased against people who are not good at math; I studied CS, and I had to take more electrical engineerin

No, they just don't consider the millions they receive in stock. Given that an intern at Facebook earns $8000 a month plus free luxury rent, do you honestly think a director makes only 70% more in a tech company? New grads at Google ge

Interns at Facebook make about $100k, and they get free luxury housing. I know people at Google at Facebook. New grads make about 170k per year (total compensation), next level is about 220k, and the next (which is Senior) about 300k. One l

The salaries discussed in these comments are only valid for San Francisco / Seattle / New York. London has incredibly bad compensation for programmers, relative to the cost of living.

I know I've mentioned it before in this thread, but you should really check out the Vector Watch. I think you're their target market. It's a smartwatch that tries to save time for you, instead of waste it. It only shows you n

Another alternative would be a Vector Watch. It's very similar to a Pebble, but has longer battery life (about a month) and looks a lot better. It's more expensive, though.

In Romania, you don't choose your classes, the classes choose you. The way it works is that you are admitted directly at a faculty, not at a university, and just take the classes they decide you should. So if you're a CS major and

I'm at ACS Bucharest, in my second year. It's pretty bad here as well. I suggest you finish your degree (nevermind the grades, just get a 5), and spend your free time learning what you're interested in. The good thing is that

VLC player has a plugin that can do this for you. It's called Vlsub. It doesn't check for synchronization, but you can try out about 3-4 subtitles in less than a minute, so it works very well in practice.
