I'm glad to see more awareness of corporate exploits on tech workers, and the push back against it. In my experience, people involved in the IT/CS are very passionate about their work but often less outspoken than people in other

There's a difference between doing it occasionally when you desire to, and being expected to do it every week against your will.

I see the point you're making, but I have to disagree. I think a part of mastering any area of expertise is being so good at what it is you do that it becomes second-nature to you. This allows you to use your skills on demand when you

There's a difference between protecting from global monopolies, and totally eliminating any competition. The fact that the Chinese sanctioned companies become monopolies themselves is even more proof that it's about nationalism th

Can someone please explain to me why $80 for Sublime Text is a good price for a text editor? I'm not flaming, I genuinely want to know. I've tried Gedit, Atom, VS Code, Notepad++ and I fail to see what Sublime offers over those to

I hate to say it, but the ad-blocking community is handling this problem the same way governments often handle things: Reactionary instead of pro-active. The real source of the problem with ads, is that almost every ad network allows ads to

If scientists are able to calculate the longevity of chemicals, food, and other products without having to wait the actual time period, I don't see how or why pharmaceutical drugs would be any different. It's very likely it is not

Use The Great Suspender for Chrome. Still not as good as a native solution like Firefox built in, but it works wonders.

What you described could be symptoms of undiagnosed ADHD. The brain fog, only 5-10 days of random great/motivated days. Contrary to popular belief, people with ADHD can be very smart and successful without even realizing they have it.

I appreciate the response, but it really doesn't justify what eyeo is actually doing to publishers. I've read about some of the amounts Google and others pay you and there's no justification for it to be that high. A large po

Google will probably do it in a very open way like they do when they try to enforce other web standards. They will probably clearly post criteria for what makes an ad acceptable or not and state that Chrome will block it if it doesn't

What Eyeo is doing amounts to theft or blackmail: Pay us or have your revenue reduced. They are a venture-funded company, so they are in it for more than the community, and can find other ways to monetize their service.
