I don't like the article because of the fatal flaw I see with novice programmers that this fails to address... tunnel vision. When I say "tunnel vision" though I mean the fact that novice users don't entirely understand what code does or ho

The issues you address aren't Android specific though and probably shouldn't be addressed by "Android" tutorials since they aren't specific to the platform.

To fully explain all the physics they try to dabble in would take a show twice its length and less than half of the entertainment it already "provides". The times they touch on topics I have actual experience in makes me cringe yes but its

From my experience you are correct. STEM programs are about critical thinking, problem solving and planning for undesired outcomes. An Engineer is taught how to constructively deduce the situation so that a beneficial proposal can be genera

There's too many variables for people to be crunching numbers like this... while I went through university I lived at home and worked at jobs that paid $17/hour minimum. My total take home would probably be comparable to that of a person ma

Agreed. My area's companies typically offer $50k for entry level developers. You can swindle more out of companies if they've been looking for someone for long enough or you have a special skillset that interests them. I have one friend who

Where I'm from the real difference between Engineer and Technician is the amount of responsibility that is placed upon the professional's shoulders. I have lots of technician friends who complain about the work they do being the same as eng

I agree with you completely. I'm just being pissy and saying "I wish things were different" and I really don't have a productive solution to the problem... My wish is that programmers would take pride in the title and call themselves progra

I feel that is the wrong way to approach things. Your job as a programmer was to provide that deliverable as set out by your position. You programmed it and it went along. The outcome of that deliverable was the improvement but your job w

The biggest quarrel I have with this whole debacle is how it all started out. A group of wise asses decided they should fancy their title up and now everyone has to "to stay relevant". The fact is I AM a Software Engineer. I have a degree

I'm just surprised there's no PR group talking with legal. This is a nightmare for Bethesda as Minecraft (and by extension Notch) has an extremely loyal and, dare I say, vocal following. Win or lose Bethesda comes out looking like a evil gr

There's only so much you can do to combat human trickery and for the most part you only have the option to be "reactive" instead of "proactive" on moves because if a human can read the algorithm (Open Source) they can device ways around it.
