Fully agreed. In my view, effective coding agent use boils down to being good at writing briefs as you would for any ticket. The better formatting, detail, and context you can provide BOTH on an outcome level and a technical architecture le

Worry about working with Laravel, PHP, and probably a database first. Worry about DevOps in a year or two. You don't need a 100% complete project to get hired, but you definitely need more than a few models and a controller. E-commerce

I always hear this "writing code isn't the bottleneck" used when talking about AI, as if there are chosen few engineers who only work on completely new and abstract domains that require a PhD and 20 years of experience that a

I think neither StackExchange nor HackerNews are probably the right place where you'll find help with this. I'm sure there are plenty of Laravel peeps lurking around here, but HN's format isn't great for code review. Fin

CityMapper for more cities. Found it super helpful for getting around London. Would be great for somewhere like Athens. Google Maps decently supports this as well, bit CityMapper UX is better for the task.

I've dabbled in at least trying the absolute basics of the popular DEs. Cinnamon, KDE, Gnome, whatever Ubuntu's current thing is called, Pop's Gnome spinoff, XFCE. Think I tried Budgie for like a minute too. The one I stuck w

Being a tech & privacy evangelist to non-technical friends & family becomes exhausting after a time. Sometimes, you just want to be a person with other people, not a tech person.

Are you asking for how to get things shipped to you from places that don't ship internationally/to you? One service I've heard of and seen recommended here and there is Aramex Global Shopper. Basically you ship things to them

Honestly, these days I save links in my Obsidian vault. I have an "Inbox" file as a raw dump of thoughts, links, todos, ephemeral notes etc, and every once in a while I revisit links living in there and categorise them into the ap

Everyone has their own strategy. Why is it so difficult for half the people replying in this Show HN to accept that some people still want to use social media as social media and not just throw all of it out?

If you get addicted to these feeds, you'll just find other ways to them once they're off your phone. I take a hybrid approach - keep uninstalled by default most of the time, engage a browser extension for web to keep me in place,

I keep Instagram to keep in touch with friends abroad. I keep Facebook because certain communities and events only happen there. For some of us, it is plain better to only block short form video.

Fake it till you make it. "Be yourself" is not wrong, but it's not specific enough. You can be perfectly authentic, but that doesn't mean being socially uncalibrated. Get good at being sociable, then blend that with yo

Agreed, it feels risky to just be associated these days, even if it's "adjacent" groups that explicitly don't want to be part of the "mechanical" side of improving social skills like "classical" PUA.
