"Half the people cheering this on will probably be unemployed in a few months." Why? California has a huge economy, a 1B deficit isn't that big of a problem. For context, they contribute 700B in federal taxes.

That's an interesting perspective. As an adult who has both human children and many pets, I disagree that your premise that pets are only valuable for children. We come from cave people who live in big family groups. Modern humans are

"On average, respondents assigned a 77% probability to a zoonosis, 21% to the lab-leak scenario" While most scientists generally favor the natural origin theory, an alternative theory with a 21% chance is not something that should

A lot of kids these days socialize together and talk on the phone while playing games. I think the camera and seeing each other's screens on Minecraft or Fortnite will be huge for them. I can relate though, I'm also on enough vide

Absolutely wild how people will just make up a story to fill in the gaps in their knowledge, and believe it.

I agree but I companies like Meta/Apple/Amazon hire so much that they probably have full time statisticians just to analyze interview process and map that back to performance. So you have to assume this maps to real world success.

I'm shocked nobody has a made a visual GUI to abstract git's weird API. There's sourceTree and whatnot, but it's so bad. So, so bad.

LLMs are only marginally useful for coding. You have simply chosen to dismiss or or 'give up' on that fact. You've chosen what you want to believe in contrast to the reality that we are all experiencing.

Just on Facebook I can see what all of my old high school friends are up to. I can instantly send anyone a message. I can find things buy that people are selling. I have a community of people who are into the same obscure hobby. That's

I disagree that social media is a vice. There's nothing inherently wrong with better communication. Although it's hard for me to see the value (or appeal) in TikTok.

I think the point is that the build up of why they are there is pointless fluff. The subject matter is the game itself, so it's better to rush through the setup and have more action.

I've heard that the soldering temperatures aren't nearly enough to make the lead a gas and the fumes from the flux are what can kill you. I suppose the same advice applies in that case, but is that accurate?

I work on a 5M+ line code base. It's not copy/paste or the same problems solved in different ways. It's a huge website with over 1K pages that does many, many things our various clients need.
