Planetside 2 does not have good network code, it's very inaccurate and prone to cheating, I mean when you run at 20hz everything is possible. It's really not a good example of modern "netcode".

It's about the libraries usually, ui lib are all made in c/c++ and those "natives" langage have better integration with it ( ffi ). For example calling C from Go is doable, but it's not encouraged and sometime a bit

I don't really believe that, at the speed of nic it makes pretty much 0 difference even on 30k servers. Shaving couple of ms at worse few seconds vs modifing a binary, def not worth it.

lighttpd came out in the mid 2000's with a better polling model than Apache, that was my point. It was using epoll back then which Apache did not. Even Youtube used Lighttpd at some point. Both are http servers, and lighttpd came out

Performance is very average and it's not a strongly typed language. Also with Kubernetes and the like Beam is not so useful anymore.
