Because it's not their business, they're not good at it and probably the ROI is not worth it. Also how exactly they would do it, they don't have enough infra for renting, they would need to x10 what they have now.

Did OP read Caddy doc before throwing Rust into the mix? I'm pretty sure his use case is doable with simple Caddy config.

The real reason is that author wanted to use Rust ( as he previously done ) and does not really care about improving existing solution. From the start you want to use x.y.z tech then the justification is meaningless.

It's a dumb statement especially from an SRE, it's typically a comment from people that don't understand k8s and think that k8s is only there to have the SLA of Google. For most use case k8s is not there to give you HA but to

Elixir performance is pretty average and it's not a statically typed language, things will blow up at runtime.

Nginx is the most popular webserver used on the internet, it's used by major CDN so it is even more battle tested. I don't see a reason why there would be a mass adoption of Pingora since it's just a proxy and there are other

The Go crypto implementation uses some unsafe/asm part but it does not rely on external C/C++ lib. Very different.

But AWS Crypto is made in C/C++/ASM, so yes the wrapper is sort of safe but the implementation is not.

For the vast majority of use cases nginx from 10 years ago would not make a difference. You actually see the nginx version on some html pages and very often it's old.
