I was under the impression that it was really hard to detect magnesium deficiency in bloodwork, because most of it is either supposed to be in our bones or cells, so a blood test doesn't paint a complete picture of total Mg stores.

Mg deficiency is also implicated in some cardiac arrhythmias and supplementation has been shown to help.

It's not regression. It's progression. Power users are more efficient and proficient on what you (incorrectly) refer to as 70s-styled terminals. It took us a while to get there. We went down the wrong path with fancy GUIs in the 9

This is mind boggling. Who installs these systems? Who maintains them? Surely this is supposed to be done by someone with at least a certain amount of clue? Enough clue not to hook up your insecure gear to the internet? No? I don't eve

The ancient Romans apparently enjoyed drawing dicks in public toilets and such. We may think we're more civilized, but it's doubtful that we are.

If they're waking you up to take blood samples when you're sleeping, it's probably for good reason. Maybe the patient is at risk for some kind of kidney complications and maybe not dying from renal failure is more important t

I know that sleep is critical to healing. And I know that a lot of what happens to you in a hospital is very unpleasant. And I know that some things might seem silly, banal or irrelevant. But please remember that this is all done from a des

Just about everything was small scale and decentralized a little over a century ago. Many small scale decentralized solutions don't work with a population of seven billion.

Japanese flats usually don't have central heating. They tend to have a/c in one room. The kitchen is usually tiny by western standards. Often there is no bedroom -- the living room is used for sleeping. In all, 20-30m² flats are p

That means that importing Dutch and French power is still cheaper than the cheap coal they could be burning. Sounds like a win to me.

Not to mention the whole groundwater incident...which, had it not been for (suicidal?) miners digging a tunnel, the water supply of FIFTY MILLION people would have been contaminated.

There are various ways of joining large amounts of wood together. CLT uses glue. Brettstapel uses wooden dowels (using two kinds of wood with a different hardness, so the dowels stay in place). I'm sure there are other variants as well

This question comes up every single time anything related to wood construction is talked about. The keyword in mass timber is mass . It's quite hard to set a big mass of wood on fire. It burns slowly and relatively predictably -- mean

That's a good point. These reactors are ancient. I wasn't aware of any major improvements in spent fuel handling, so I've got some reading to do!

Lead acid batteries have a recycling rate of around 100%. LiIon can be recycled with relative ease. This seems like a much easier problem to solve than PV cells or nuclear waste.
