Building new airports (or expanding them) seems to be a lot like building new nuclear power plants. Ridiculously expensive, plagued by endless delays and more political than anyone is prepared for. The Berlin Brandenburg Airport is a wonder

That's an interesting perspective, and one I hadn't considered before. I have to admit that it only fuels my fatalism. If people can't be convinced not to (e.g.) throw their trash out the window, then I can't help but de

Something consider: elevated diastolic blood pressure with a systololic blood pressure of <140 is apparently not correlated to more negative outcomes. Apparently home blood pressure monitors are prone to overreport the diastolic reading

So I recently found out I'm one of those many people with high blood pressure. This knowledge has been stressing me out (I don't want to die yet). I'm reasonably active as far as software engineers go: 10k+ steps daily and ex

I had a brief look at the websites this page links to, and some of them fail to mention what they're about. Blockstack tells me their token sale has ended. But what the hell is blockstack and why should I care about its token sale? Mat

I wonder how many generations of "cooking (for) dolphins" you'd need in order for a drastic brain evolution to occur. Probably not enough to provide them with cooked meals, you'd probably also have to progressively incre

I can't speak for AMD's support towards the Radeon/OpenCL community, but their GPU and CPU support towards the Linux community has been less than stellar. And while slightly off topic, their CPUs contain just as much Evil as

Which voters, exactly? The same voters who voted for Brexit based on false promises and politics of misinformation? Or perhaps the same voters who thought they were voting for affordable health care but against Obamacare? The world is safer

Not impressed by the visual "refresh". Looks like yet another trip to flatland to me. I wish this design trend would go away already.

Seems odd, considering cow milk contains virtually no vitamin D. It is often enriched with vitamin D, but that practice likely does not predate the evolution of lactose tolerance.

Fruit & vegetables full of sucrose? That seems a little exaggerated. An onion, for instance, is 90% water, 4% sugars, 3% other carbs and 2% fibre. A coke, on the other hand, is 90% water, 10% sugar (either HFCS or sucrose, depending on
