This is a timely article because I was just talking to a friend of mine that works at Google and is about to start an internal project that will be written in Go. I told him I'm not sure I'd ever fit into the Go community because

I had trouble with Google Drive on Windows. The Google Drive process would frequently take 100% of a core even if just a single 1k file was in the Google Drive folder. It's broken. This really bummed me out because I was evaluating i

Thanks for taking the time to respond! I'd love a Java AOT compiler that produces native binaries with no additional dependencies. (I'd even be okay if, as a side effect, some Java features were not supported, making it technical

Omg, what the hell kind of dark pattern is it that waits 10 minutes to start playing an audio ad? Slashdot's audio ads don't wait 10 minutes to start. Slashdot's much hated auto-refresh "feature" is to blame. It

There's also Excelsior, which is an AOT JVM, but it's for Windows only. Unfortunately, it's also extremely expensive. That's not to say it isn't worth every penny in some situations, but I've gotten kind o

From the article: In many ways, it feels like the Firefox team is mostly fighting a battle of perceptions. Ask anybody why they don’t use Firefox and they’ll say: “It’s too slow.” That’s not actually the case anymore. I'm sorry, but

You will be excited to learn about gcj, then. The Gnu Java compiler compiles to native code, but it's currently not maintained, so newer Java features are out of reach. gcj has been abandoned. It was last updated over 5 years ago.
