FIRE. If you’re working in American tech, especially in the VHCOL areas, there’s absolutely no excuse to not be saving and investing a significant (arbitrarily >>30% of gross pay) amount of your income. Don’t go overboard on the spend

It’s a capped-profit structure where excess profit will supposedly go back to the no-profit side. From a recent NYTimes article [1]: > But these profits are capped, and any additional revenue will be pumped back into the OpenAI nonprofit

Looks like there’s a paid podcast available. I’m sure there’s some TTS apps that could take in the text and make it consumable that way, though.

Interesting comparison with Intel in the PC market: > the market just wants the software and if the software works the same, the hardware is replaceable And likely to be true given how much competition is heating up in the AI hardware sp

The supposed purpose of this tax on expensive properties—funding homeless programs—is dubious at best considering the insane amounts of money that Californian cities funnel towards them with no real improvement in the crisis. The reality is

In this context I think we’re talking about moat, i.e., private data, that they can leverage for personalized experiences. Similar to what Microsoft announced with their Office365 Copilot stuff.

Are you saying that Google doesn’t have a great data moat? That seems completely off considering Google search, YouTube, GCP, Google for Education/Work, Android, etc.
