Honestly half the reason I argue for rubocop is to avoid having readability discussions with other devs when I don't have strong opinions. I've discovered that I am nonplussed by patterns that leave other devs downright emotional

If ruby's float's are exact, how do they translate arbitrary literals to IEEE 754? Surely the vast majority of literals are not representable with IEEE 754, so any exactness of these floats would solely exist in comparison between

What exactly is bootcamp if you don't install windows? I know I need it to dual-boot my mac with linux but it's not clear why.

In practice, external batteries are so cheap these days and easier than ever to charge your laptop from with usb-c, it's less of an issue than it used to be. It certainly holds up with phones and smaller devices, though. I'd think

Node has done a lot of work in defining a runtime outside of the browser. I'm guessing much of this work would need to be done with spidermonkey in order to match common functionality. It'd also help out an electron equivalent for

It's difficult to characterize this as inherently bad, though. We could end up with three competing engines and major browsers, plus a long tail of webkit browsers. That's a pretty decent scenario for the rest of us.

Well of course AirBnb is "better placed"; they're ignoring local zoning. It's probably an indication airbnb has a negative impact on the places you're visiting.

It makes me very annoyed they aren't selling a minimal laptop version. I really don't get why they're doubling down on forcing the touch strip onto their laptops when nobody is demanding this and, thankfully, no competitor wa

Email would let me participate without having to sign up with github. Anyway, email has threading, at least. At the very minimum github needs to step up and acknowledge how terrible issues are for communicating.

What is "easier" about having to deal with github than your email? Github has needed a non-web-app interface since 2007. It's good to see real competition and not just another clone of github's, erm, interesting design c

Describing a school like "Harvard" as selective is trivially equating "arbitrary and biased" with some kind of semantic merit. Realistically, if you get into harvard you are lucky, wealthy, or usable for marketing. They

I don't think the PPC emulator ships with osx anymore. Did the initial versions of osx recognize fat binaries or was that explicitly introduced later?
