That's entirely missing the point. "All models are wrong, but some are useful". You can test hypotheses and learn things even about chaotic or emergent systems.

Not everything is a state secret. There's no need to immediately migrate every trivial email and permit request, but having a parallel infrastructure for the stuff that needs it should be a no-brainer.

My understanding is that in Europe regulations focused on the length of the whole vehicle, whereas in America the length of the cab and trailer were regulated separately. Also American truckers do a lot more long-haul work and American road

Disregarding for a moment whether that's what HN-greybeards want or not, being behind in this area doesn't necessarily preclude Apple from catching up later. There's enough of a market that they can buy it from one of Google&

Parent is trying to sarcastically demonstrate thought termination by way of woke. As in, some accusations shut down conversations by way of being too much effort or requiring too much social capital to argue against.

I adore Peter Watts, so I'll be checking out Smith then! Watts is like brain candy, keeps my mind buzzing from all the ideas for weeks. Charles Stross can have the same effect, a sort of future shock.

Sort of, with at least two caveats. 1) velocity of money matters, some spending creates more economic activity than others due to re-spending. 2) Investment is not the same as having your money sitting idle. Investment makes certain activit

The problem is the limited charging infrastructure. Hybrid owners don't need to plug in for the vehicle to function so they yield available chargers to actual EVs. To get past this you would need ubiquitous charging infra.
