Do we need an article about the trucking company that brought the telescope to the launch pad as well? Surely all freight carriers are due recognition? This headline makes it sounds like SpaceX is more that a freight carrier here, undoubte

It’s a scam going back to the 90s. It’s a big part of the reason we have COPPA.

This is not the quality one expects from GPT, only a human being could write this nonsense.

Agree totally, and I’ll go further, this writing quality and lack of meaning is literally poorer quality than I’d expect from Bard, let alone GPT-4. We’re getting to the point that the best tell it’s written by an average human is that it’s

As somebody deploying some very advanced technologies in the litigation space I think this is a reflection of his own docket, not the broader space. There is definitely a need and a market for highly specialized tools in certain segments of

Came to post this comment and you beat me to it. I think it deserves an overdub with some very intense industrial techno or the Terminator theme.

Ok, I can agree there, I thought they meant the search bar suggestions which is maybe annoying but not misleading or controlling.

I think people have started using “dark pattern” to mean any UX decisions they disagree with. There is a hugely substantive difference between this feature being on by default and say, making a ”reject tracking” button in 2 point grey font.

I used to be able to do the same thing in iTunes years ago as a laugh. I don’t see how this is a huge deal.

Yeah, same point I’m making - what other language declares variables like that? It’s a mess!

I’ve been writing JavaScript for 25 years and have always felt it has utterly trash syntax. I’m not sure that’s 100% on GPT. (And I don’t mean to be rude - I just really hate that syntax!)

It’s often only obvious some new technologies are a fad in retrospect. It’s hard to tell how they will be adopted, Second Life had a very enviable early growth curve.

GPT4 is really good at code and you can generally verify hallucination easily. The other good use cases are using LLM to turn natural language prompts into API calls to real data.

The most aerodynamic car would have no doors, mirrors, or hell - wheels. Optimization is always about careful balance of objectives in light of a holistic experience. Anybody can “optimize for x” if you just ignore y and z.

Bluesky is a lot of fun in that “great party before the trolls show up and shit on it all” way. Try it out, as a fellow old timer it’s all about finding communities before the turn to shit and moving on. Totally agree!

Having worked in the tech legal and compliance, privacy, and security spaces for a very long time the idea of letting thousands of strangers upload binary files to a server I’m legally liable for is terrifying.
