I was referring to consumer DRM systems, not in-theater projection systems. Is there also a concern of Netflix-bitrate 4K video being used in theaters?

Color theory has been extremely well researched for quite a long time. If you are not familiar, I would suggest reading up on the CIE 1931 color space [1]. Some of the confusion in the article relates to terminology. >When we say “yellow

This is the opposite of my experience (assuming the same performance level). Though I consider FPGAs and GPUs mostly cut out for vastly different purposes. I unfortunately can't find a good reference to back this up because very few pe

FPGAs are certainly not known for their low power consumption. Especially for something like an OpenCL workload, you'd probably do much better with a vector processor architecture, like on GPUs.

>(I actually don't know so feel free to correct me). Okay, I will :) Many FPGAs load their program from a SPI chip on board, which can't be reprogrammed. However, it's increasingly common for another microcontroller or SoC

Don't forget the rather oppressive DRM required by Hollywood for 4K video content. This is why 4K is currently only available for Netflix original content.

Emscripten generates asm.js code by default. Also Emscripten should be C standard compliant. So any behavior that isn't correct is likely an Emscripten bug.

The license costs for HE-AAC alone are probably more than the FM radio chip, unfortunately.

ORTC is just an API. The WebRTC protocol itself is defined in RTCWEB at the IETF and based on the existing RTP and RTCP transports, and SCTP transport layer. I don't think you'll be able to do better.

WebRTC already has p2p support for group chat. appear.in is one example of an implementation. The main limitation is that upload bandwidth scales linearly with the number of people in the group chat. But that's often OK for up to 10 or

Most consumer sources are also-limited to 8-bit precision. 10-bit encodes from these are made using a fancy temporal debanding filter, which only works in certain cases. Keep in mind that there is a range expansion when converting to monito

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 in the Nexus 6 fully supports VP9 hardware acceleration. Though I'm not sure about the benefits of 4K video on a 6 inch screen.

Qualcomm and Samsung's SoCs now support VP9. In addition, nVidia's K1 and newer SoCs also support it.

I think many thought this a year ago, but it's not the case any more. All of the major SoC vendors are shipping VP9 in their newest system-on-chips. In addition, a new licensing pool for HEVC just formed, and has yet to announce their

In the case of NETVC, all contributors are required to submit IPR declarations. This doesn't prevent other uninvolved parties from popping up with patents later, but is still far better than the "patent-blind" approach that M
