It probably just means the quality of the apps are currently fairly low. Once there has been a bit more time for developers to create apps, the quality and the paid/free ratio will go up.

I agree, if you're not touching the memory limits of 32bit, there is no reason to do 64bit. Because 64bit applications have to pass 64bit addresses to read from memory it is slower than 32bit which only have to pass 32bits of data (simplifi

I find that updating a Windows server often requires a reboot, while other systems can usually get away with restarting the service that is being patched.

In all honesty, I get just as many push notification spam message on my android phone. It's an instant uninstall trigger for me. I see it more of a push notification problem rather than an apple/ios problem. It reminds me of how popups were

My guess is that most of the work they do on this machine won't be bottlenecked on the hdds, so they don't worry about it too much. And it's easier to replace hard drives in a separate rack than taking blades offline to do it.

Could be they want to set a precedence for the patent with a smaller target, and then aim at the big stuff that is more commonly known by the non-tech crowd.

At $0.8 per gigabyte of transferred data? no thanks. Amazon prices at $0.19 per gigabyte for first 10gb, then less for additional data transfer.

On a desktop, I use windows. Hit windows key, type and run. Simple :) I'm sure launchy has more functionality, but both the windows7 start menu and metro lets you press the windows key and type in partial names to open an application. I fin

Even though I agree with your sentiment, you're comparing a desktop/server with a laptop. One is built to be portable, and will have big tradeoffs because of this.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've been using win8 on a laptop for a few months now. I see no problems with the metro style stuff. I wonder if a lot of the complaints people put forward are just complaints because there is a change.

I remember my parents called all mp3 players "iPod" long before the appstore was announced. The first generations of iPods might have been easier to use than the other mp3 players at the time, but that alone does not explain the huge adopti

So if I got this right, this is the order of how things happened. 1. Egor finds a vulnerability and reports it. https://github.com/rails/rails/issues/5228 2. It gets ignored and he is being called a troll. 3. He proves that he was right b

I guess it depends on what your goal is. If it's to pretend to be good or if it's to become good. Having public work means you can get direct feedback on the work you are doing and this is an excellent way of learning :)

Sorry, being pedantic here, but it's a pet hate. If you say something is 20 times less. It means you take the original value and multiply it by 20, then subtract the new value from the original. This will always give you a negative value. x

Lets say we use an average of 15 minutes for a person to go to the toilet. This includes getting to and from the toilet etc. For ease of calculation we say that each person goes to the toilet twice during a workday. And there are roughly 7

The claim was not that water does not rehydrate, but that dehydration is not a disease. As hydrofix on slashdot said: "Actually, according to the original decision ( http://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/efsajournal/doc/1982.pdf ) [europa.eu], it is
