I concur with the other comments, Cloud SQL is a very mediocre service at best. Lot's of weird issues and the engineering team doesn't seem to care. We also had the segfault due to query insight. Just the fact that you can't

I follow the MMT thinking on that and I would say we are way past the time where one could reasonably argue that taxation funds the government. At best it serves to reduce the money supply to avoid inflation. Having a strong middle class is

It is interesting to me that the main opposition argument to taxation of wealth seems to be that it could cause a crash of the stock when people need to sell. I would like to propose a counter argument and happy to debate its merits/sh

Clickbait title, there is nothing in the proposed legislation that forces platforms to do anything. It just gives the CRTC jurisdiction over the online platforms. The real application will be debated in court and hearings. The current law i

They mentionned that they decided against thanos for the storage of metrics, but would be curious to hear if other TSDB were considered. It is a hot space, I know about M3BD, Clickhouse, Timescale, influx, QuestDB, opentsdb, etc.

Even here in Canada with regulation we see the same consolidation happening. The quotas of production have become so expensive that it is not possible to start from scratch. In the case of my familly the cows were sold in 1989 because it wa

There are SaaS services now that handle this problem, but honestly I am glad you did that. Most US company just hire as contractor in Canada even if it is not legal per Canadian law and it will get workers in trouble pretty soon I think. Th

I agree 100%, I just signed up on your website. I would go even as far as saying 3-4 days should/will become the norm as time goes on. There is no particular reason we are stuck at 5 days/40 hours except that workers stopped askin

I agree with this so much. I have been working part time for almost a year now to rebuild a house and it has been very nice. It always seemed weird to me that people make such high salaries in tech but just don't value time as the main

That would be so wonderful, it is stupid how things are run currently and it so expensive for no good reason. I wish we had nationalized the internet providers a while ago. That would have allowed us to just write in the law that everybody

A few things to note: - Prisma 1 was a completely independent server and Prisma 2 was most likely started as a rewrite of Prisma 1 so it followed the same approach - This indirection will be removed if someone can finally land a Rust bindin

My definition of FaaS is each controller living its own life and deployed independently behind an api gateway. This is a PaaS because only the infrastructure is managed and I can deploy my whole application in one docker image.

Do you guys plan to add an offering for a distributed database that we could match with this compute? That way we could build entire application on edge without buying into the FaaS movement.
