I don't think I mind this change. I mostly use my own mail servers, but when I setup a Discourse forum a couple months ago, it was so easy to turn it on with Mailgun that I gave it a try (the forum was migrated from an existing forum t

I thought I was clear, but perhaps I can explain better: Blockchain is very often suggested as a solution to a social or ethical problem, absent any evidence that it can solve those problems (or can solve them better than existing law/

I've gotten to the point where I automatically and instantly discount any theory that proposes blockchain as a solution. I'm not saying blockchain technology will never be a good solution to a real world problem, but I have notice

Cantrill is probably the most well-known. Long-time Solaris advocate, worked on Joyent for a long time, etc. You'll find his fingerprints on a lot of stuff. It'd be hard to find someone more capable of building on-prem cloud infra

I think there's a battle between nerds and non-nerds, and maybe in between is the worst place to land. I know some of my projects' users complain a lot about the lack of a WYSIWYG editor in our forums and issue tracker (we use Mar

All code sucks now, not just blocks. Inline code screws up at least half the time I use it; it tries to guess what I want, and sometimes doesn't end when I close it with another backtick. And, when going back and editing it sometimes c

Joplin isn't a Markdown editor, it's a note taking and todo list app. It just happens to use Markdown as its entry format. It seems like it's a "Markdown editor" in the same way as reddit or github.

Seems like it would have to be the same license as BusyBox, since it is a "compiled" artifact of BusyBox (just compiled to another high level language).

Printing books directly from the browser isn't a solved problem, so it seems like a good project, to me. I don't see any evidence on their website this is intended for reading in the browser, and tons of clues that it's inten

I think (hope?) it is for printing, and not for reading in the browser. The example has `@media print{..}`, so I assume that is what the intended end result is for this project.

A vehicle that has a towing capacity in the tens of thousands of pounds can have a big battery bank, and so it could have longer range than a small sedan. Of course the weight of the battery itself reduces range, and carrying a load will re

That's not so tiny. Many of the servers that ran the early internet were about that powerful (and, many even running on that very chip). It's interesting that they used the MMU-less version. I would have assumed that since it was

It'd be more popular if it were safer/easier. Which is true pretty much everywhere. Some of the places where biking is the most common also have quite harsh winters (e.g. Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, etc.).
