I don't know. Seems a bit timely. Bob Iger of Disney this week has said, that they are at a point with their content/merch/theme parks etc able to "burn out" the entire consuming population of the country if they wa

The Indian Telecom landscape has no resemblance to the US or Europe. There is no AT&T/Comcast monopoly. Why? Because the regulator has done a pretty decent job ensuring access to voice and data stays cheap through competition. As f

Appreciate your answer and what the course is trying to do. All I'll add is, it's good to be aware of the contradiction all that data presents. The contradiction shows up in your post and I have a feeling you are aware of it. &quo

If you are a young journalist being told "data journalism" is the must have resume bullet point for the future, here's some unsolicited advice from someone in techland who has worked with journalists. 1. Don't waste your

Well...no hard and fast rules here. Look at Van Gough. He saw and did what everyone else did. Then went off and did what no one else had done. Makes one wonder what effect the environment at Apple or the Googleplex has on a mind like that.

Well said. I think we are in that period where it has become so easy to collect data...that everyone who can...be it Facebook, the NSA or Joe the Plumber...they can't help themselves. Why? Cause it produces the illusion of knowledge.

Come on. Google doesn't need to unionize cause they are the chosen ones made of special star dust. They believe what IBM employees at their hey day believed - in rainbows and ponies. And then what happened?

Also would like to hear from the Germans how their software billionaires think of unions? With unions I find it hard to imagine being able to gift 30 billion dollars to future Mark Zuckerbergs or Bill Gates.

ISP's could be doing a better job of looking for/blocking out these shaddy DNS servers. Until that happens, workaround is to setup all devices to not rely on router provided DNS.

This is the kind of mentality that allows Wall Street and Silicon Valley to take advantage of people, who don't know any better what problems they are creating for themselves. With it "smart" people, don't have to feel r

For those interested, the textile industry (and their ridiculously expensive power looms and weaving CAD/CAM software) are ripe for disruption, if a smart hacker can get the cost of a loom down to the sub 1K range. There are a whole lo
