Exactly, not just the language all the tooling (jvm tools) and IDE are also top notch. Really waiting for the new compiler frontend, which brings huge improvements to compile time. Where did you get that info about patter matching?. By the

Kotlin is one example where it's difficult to make that mistake. Kotlin does provide nullable type and everything can check at compile time and it so good. So if write code in pure kotlin (java interop has null issues) you can avoid nu

I know Redmonk has reasonably believable language rankings, but a recent JVM ecosystem survey says otherwise - https://snyk.io/blog/kotlin-overtakes-scala-and-clojure-to-b...

What's the issue with Dart? It's super easy to pickup. IMHO, it's in the same category as Kotlin/Swift (soon it's getting features like non-nullable types and extension functions).

We use https://square.github.io/keywhiz/ . It provide secrets as files in a directory, securely. So no special API, client libraries required to access it.

Since flutter paints every pixel on the screen, widgets will work same for every version of OSs. No more support library madness.

Really excited to see 1.0 release. Have been following Graal and SubtrateVM as a way to create native binaries (specifically CLI tools). So, any plans to support Windows and MacOSx for CE? Also, any support for cross-compilation to generate

Using maven at work and Kotlin-DSL for my personal projects. One of the main pain points for using Kotlin DSL is the speed. It's order of magnitude slower than maven when used with IntelliJ IDE. Sometimes updating the `build.gradle.kts

Kotlin has the best java interop for any of the JVM languages, so you don't have to rewrite everything in kotlin . You can gradually migrate while using the same tooling.

That's true..but IMO, if you want to reach that level of expertise, you have to spend a whole lot of time every day/week learning new stuff/technologies. At least that's the case for me as a software developer.

Thanks for the update Bob! I know you have been working on nullable types in Dart. Is this something we can expect before Dart 2.0?

On JVM and Native kotlin does support coroutines and supports all kinds of concurrency models (including go style goroutines). Check this more details - https://github.com/Kotlin/kotlinx.coroutines/blob/master

Gradle now supports kotlin ( https://github.com/gradle/gradle-script-kotlin ) for writing your build scripts and the IDE (Intellij) integration is very nice there too.
