It's also a serious issue in New Zealand. It's exacerbated by children running around with sippy cups which allow constant contact between teeth and juice (or worse, sugary drinks).

I've been thinking about the same thing! It's a pity the video is in German. I came to the conclusion that at a societal level, competition is almost always harmful as soon as it's outside the confines of a game (i.e. when pe

I had the misfortune of using Visual FoxPro once upon a time. It was horrifyingly bad, but perhaps by that time (2002-2004) it was suffering serious impedance mismatch with the rest of technology which had moved on. Anyway, I wouldn't

What you're saying is reasonable, and there are lots of people attempting to make RAD systems. Unfortunately, they always place severe limitations on the kind of software that can be created with them, and hence none of them have becom

Thanks for the pointer. Tried it out - it's similar to Gingko but seems much less polished, and I couldn't find the keyboard shortcuts! I guess the advantage is that it's free. I really hope this kind of text manipulation wil

Leaflet only allows discrete zoom levels as far as I know, whereas Pixels zooms continuously. I'm not sure a tile layer with an infinite number of zoom levels is possible either. At the very least, it would require extensive hacking.

Thanks for pointing out Gingko - it looks like it could have the right mix of features that I miss in Workflowy, i.e. going beyond lists/outlines and having richer content in leaf nodes. Excited to try it out!

It also makes things difficult for those of us who are trying to make a living out of education/training. I get that people do it for passion, I enjoy sharing knowledge too, and in an ideal world where I didn't have to earn money,

You have to understand that no comment is about describing reality as it is, but rather someone's attempt to make reality conform to their own ideological prejudices.

Aside from merchant account setup, last time I looked (4 years ago), Payment Express worked out to be really expensive when charging in USD. I think it was in part due to merchant account/currency conversion charges by the bank. It was

If you already know C++ and just want to get up to speed with C++11/14 features, I wrote several books aimed at specific feature sets supported by different compilers (GCC, Clang, MSVC). Check them out at http://cpprocks.com

Great quote! Job creation is such a short-sighted goal, when we should really be looking at an organised transition to less and less work. Things are going that way anyway, but in an entirely uncontrolled fashion which will lead (perhaps i

This is a very interesting project! I backed it. I've only tried Xiki in a semi-broken state for now, via the SublimeXiki plugin and with Ruby 2.0 (which mostly doesn't work). One question I have is how are you planning to handle

If you squint in just the right way so as not to see any of the braces, semicolons and parentheses in the first example, then naturally we are going to disagree about the amount of noise :)

I see what you mean. Yes, the if in a macro is a problem. I haven't addressed macros, that's a whole different can of worms.

This seems to be missing backslashes. I haven't considered how to deal with preprocessor macros, but the if statement converts very simply: if !__allocation__.IsRetry() __object__ = __allocation__.ToObjectChecked()

I'd make this parse as "if (a) { if (b) { c; d; } }" and leave it at that. One of the reasons for significant indentation is to discourage this kind of code layout because it's hard to read.
