I was planning on getting the Droid X until I learned of this. It's a slap in the face and unfortunately most people won't even realize it. Slowly innovation and growth in smart phones will slow and no one will realize why. They won't reali

The original Droid was developed in partnership with Google. Chances are this had something to do with the openness of the original.

The main reason Verizon would want something like this is to prevent un-paid for tethering. But this doesn't stop that. You can still get root on a Moto ROM and still install a tethering app.

On my EVO I had to turn off wifi and the batter now seems better than my old iPhone 3G. There are supposed to be updates soon to fix the power/wifi issues.

I always avoided Starbucks due to the two hour limit. Not that I often exceed it, but just on principle. Also it was always a hassle to have to use a gift card to get the free access. I can see myself visiting Starbucks from now on.

I've heard this 'base' package argument before, but still don't understand it. What true benefit does having the kernel maintainer also maintain ls and userland utilities? The ports system is just an install time package optimization. For m

I think you're correct, but China still tries its best to crack down on this. Remember the iPhone is sold in China without wifi. Probably to cut down on this exactly.

I'm not saying it isn't stable, rather it's still in development. I don't want to use couchdb .8 in the debian stable repo only to have to recode my app when I upgrade to .9 or .10 because of breaking changes. http://wiki.apache.org/couchd

Though I do think there will come a time when it will be just as easy to start with NoSQL as SQL.

This is very close to my line of thinking. What real benefit is there starting out with NoSQL when most websites really don't need to scale that big.

ha! I've seen the web when Microsoft gets it's way. It's not a pretty place. They pay lip service to standards now, but it wasn't too long ago that they sat on their hindquarters twiddling their thumbs. You think IE7-IE9 is their good will

No software will be able to run on Mac OS X 10.7 without being approved and signed by Apple, Inc. Remember when we used to own our computers? Time to sell my Apple stock and donate the money to a Linux distro.
