Government doesn't bet than society as a whole loses out. Ideally your government should be attempting to maximize everyone's utility (read:society). Private corporations are attempting to maximize their utility (In the case of modern econo

If only it were as simple as pill = dollar = life expectancy. All I have to say is I'm happy to live in Canada and don't worry about these things.

"As a result, pundits are already declaring this the beginning of (or an important milestone in) Microsoft’s death spiral." Really? So much of their business is relying on the Surface RT that it will spell doom for the entire company? Highl

I thought the point of the article was that regardless of the cost of the item, you should try and get the best object you could possibly get. I find it amusing that the article actually attacked the cost of the object not the utility. Ther

I agree with you 100%. The old desktop is not gone, it still serves the purpose that it always did. Many of the arguments I find come from people forcing new users to only use the Metro style UI, which would obviously be confusing (much as

I was just thinking if they had some high res images, and bumped up the font size, it wouldn't be half bad. Of course this comes from a person with little knowledge of web design.

Exactly! I'm also sure that there will be no DRM police, inspecting devices to ensure that you do not have any pirated material on them. These laws are intended to hit distributors of pirated material (think small shop selling pirated DVDs

The fact of the matter is, of the 250+ games I have in my steam library <50 of them work with mac. This ties me to windows. When I run windows 8, I can run steam and all my games, they dont magically stop working. While windows 8 RT isn

As long as the guy at best buy can explain the difference between Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT, it doesn't matter. The uninformed consumer will go to others for guidance. As long as the CSR's are informed there won't be a problem.

Honestly I think even Microsoft fan boys don't think that windows 8 will be an immediate win. Windows 8 is the painful stepping stone that windows needs to step on in order to move forward and stay competitive.

I'm surprised that Google hasn't used Motorola to make a nexus device yet. Samsung seems to be doing pretty well for themselves making android devices, it doesn't seem too much of a stretch for Motorola to do the same.

Worse yet, it appears that the best way to avoid this is to flat out ignore the law, rather than go along with it. Your video gets taken down? Just put it back up again and hope it wont get found a second time.

Many of the OPs complains have the tone of "not my PHP!!!". If old PHP devs learn to look for annotations, points 2 and 4 no longer apply, and many points in 1 no longer apply either. It sounds more like a PHP dev grumbling about change...

Maybe I'm way off here but I was under the impression: Size of screen != # of pixels on that screen Shouldn't the article talk about that? A Retina Mac's screen may not be as large as a 21 inch screen, however it probably has more pixels.

The True Problem With PHP is that there are too many people complaining about PHP. Its been said before, and I'll say it again: if you dont like PHP switch to something better, if there isn't anything better make something better.
