I know the main issue with Windows here on HN is usually around the telemetry that Microsoft collects but I don't have an issue with that. Windows 10 for me has been a rock solid OS for years. I think I've had 2 bluescreen issues

Back around 1999 I worked for a company and one of the jobs we had was to replace a financial data entry system which was written in BASIC and run on an aging mini comupter. Access to it was done via a terminal and it was a text based inter

I don't release much open source code, most of the code I work on can't be released publically. The code I do release is probably not that useful to many and in most cases is something i've written for personal use primaraly.

I agree that age doesn't mean experience. I work in a company with a small development team and we're all around the same age group with no young programmers. In thios group we have a programmer in his early 40s, who has been prog

For me I would say it's fault finding. Releasing software is easy but finding the sometimes very obscure issues that crop up once released is always a challenge, especially when bug reports are not always the most detailed. When dealin

I work in an open office with about 30 people in it and find it unbarable on times. I have some good noise cancelling headphones that help sometimes but I can't wear them for too long a period before they start getting uncomfortable.

The ALT-f-s option still works in a lot of windows software now. Microsoft Office will even overlay the letter of the keypress on top of the menu item.

Interesting idea but how maintainable is the code? I've used a few tools over the years that automatically generate code, mostly in C, but I've usually had to rewrite it as it never fits in with any decent coding standard

I remember the painfully long compile times. Delphi compiled in seconds where a medium sized C++ app we developed would take about 20 minutes for a build.
