Console and phone take were probably very separated on the org chart. That matters a lot in huge companies although it looks mental from the outside.

I haven't disabled SIP yet. As a Mac novice, I'm wary of breaking something required for work (and in a pandemic WFH to boot) that I can't fix. But it looks like it's optional. I'll give it a shot! Thanks for the

Amethyst is nice but has odd and unfortunate edge cases. The use of the Accessibility APIs limits what it can do. For example, keybinds stop working if the focus is on an empty screen with no windows. Occassionaly it "loses" a

I'm jealous of you and others in this thread that shared this path. I've unfortunately been dragged in the other direction: I was a happy i3/Linux user and now I'm coping with a multi-monitor Mac setup which stubbornly

As a theory, Y Combinator, thus HN, is strongly aligned with startups which, in less hip circles, are "small businesses". Small business tends conservative because regulation disproportionately impacts them (eg. regulatory captur

I don't think it's a partisan thing? The 70's is way past the political event horizon for most people. I think it's simply keeping HN free of memes but I couldn't stop giggling the connection. For the broader poin

I frequently reply to my kids with "Ok, go $do_a_thing" and I almost always trigger my phone, even if it's in my pocket. The kicker is that I use "Hey Google" when I want the assistant so the "Ok Google"

YTM is completely worthless if you have/had a family plan with GPM. My kids basically lost all of their access to music as Youtube itself is not available to kids, no matter how hard you try or how often a parent enters their password

The Signal Path is no joke. EE's will say "RF is voodoo" and looking at HF to Wifi, you think it's a little bit hyperbolic. Then TSP goes and dissects some 80GHz monster and you realize that you know absolutely nothing

That doesn't make any sense. OTH radars work by skipping off the atmosphere back to Earth (shortwave style). If the signals escaped to the Moon and back, it wouldn't work OTH.
