Sure I sometimes say features are assets but code is a liability. Usually as part of an argument against complexity that some engineers favor to be ready for speculative future circumstances.

The people pulling the purse strings would disagree. They’d cite the comparatively much larger losses to Russia (without spilling a drop of American blood).

I can't say I agree jail time is the solution. I would like to see lifetime driving prohibitions but somehow that's never on the table.

Get an Arduino and write HelloWorld. Then add sensors (inputs) and actuators (outputs) to make something more according to your interests. Rinse and repeat.

I researched Bambu printers before and it seemed, at least at the time, you could not manage it with open source Octoprint. I prefer not to connect my printer to the live network but still want to access it remotely, which Octoprint accompl

As a separate issue, it’s strange the firmware pkg is not encrypted.

Seen this too. Sometimes companies think of themselves (or aspire to be) product companies but are really service providers. Not that there’s anything wrong with one or the other the same strategies don’t necessarily work for both.

Absolutely terrific software. One good memory is being stuck at a client site (20 years ago) trying to figure out an interop issue with our network equipment. In the two weeks I was there I found it helpful to write a protocol decoder plugi

Most people seem concerned about software, ecosystem and community. After my experience with Raspberry Pi, my top concern is investing in a platform that may leave me hanging for supply reasons.

The author also cites sailors Knox-Johnston and Moitessier. I learned about both here on HN and found their respective books bingeworthy.

Agree the shop parts of WD are very cathartic. That contrasts with the buying/selling aspect of the show. I use the ffwd function liberally to edit episodes to half their length.

How does this work? Do they publish your minified/bundled code and trust it’s a direct derivation of the un-obfuscated zip provided for review?

I did the original import of the unencumbered SSH sources into the OpenBSD CVS repository (imported to the wrong path and Theo blew up lol). Haven't thought about it in ages and the distance of the memory is making me feel old too.

You offer a good description of adjusting a wheel that is tensioned beyond its natural limit. Sometimes the art is making an assessment of the rim and deciding the best set of trade-offs given the rim's limitations.

You say you have difficulty adjusting spoke tension but you don't say what the problem is. Do you have a spoke tensiometer? I consider it manadatory (you don't have to have a fancy electronic one although they're a pleasure t

Thanks for your post and sharing your progress. I look forward to the next one. As a little bootstrapped startup, I can relate. I've also had on-shore production and sourcing issues that couldn't be resolved without unexpected cos

I'll accept the downvotes and say it's not a universal problem. Upon more research it seems if you do not send a Referrer header, McMaster inserts a history entry using the history API. I can make it work/fail by tweaking net

Depends on how much work it is. I would try to price it as my SaaS fee plus a consulting fee where the latter is NOT flat rate. Because this kind of arrangement turns you into a consultant.
