They're both at fault since each side expects the other to catch those who fall into this unfortunate situation. The government should provide for people in this situation so that if you lost your job due to the circumstances, it shoul

We've seen these stories before. We need to keep seeing them until something is done about it. I just hope we don't get desensitized before that happens. Because then it will be accepted as normal.

This is so fascinating. I'll be keeping an eye on this. I've been doing binary computing all my life, so it's kind of mind bending to think of computing using analog circuitry without immediately trying to turn it back into b

I'm a huge fan of git education. From a computer science standpoint, git is very clever but not particularly hard to understand. From a usage standpoint, although it's gotten better over the years, I still wouldn't call it us

I find reading this in a web browser to be ironic. But then I immediately shared it with people via Slack, too, so...

If you wrote your script against v1.7 and now they're on v3, you can still run your script. The v1.7 source and binary haven't disappeared. It's still available and work exactly the same as when you wrote your script.

Thank you! I didn't know this and it leaves me feeling conflicted. I haven't used Balena Etcher in a while, but I used to use it all the time. I've been using the official tool from Raspberry Pi lately. I wonder if their tool

This really smacks of Magic Leap for me, which is far from a compliment. I think we all know how this story ends already.

This is only a rumor, but I've heard that collecting and fighting beetles and other insects is not an unusual pastime for many young Japanese boys.

In spite of the author's argument, this reads as linguistic prescriptivism to me. The meaning of words changes over time. If you endeavor to hold a grudge every time language evolves, you're going to end up a pretty grumpy person.

There's definitely a market for rarer, more unusual machines out there. I'm thinking of NeXTcubes, BeBoxes, 20th Anniversary Macintoshes, etc. Heck, the prices for Commodore 64s and Apple IIs in decent condition are skyrocketing.

I agree. This site seems unnecessarily inflammatory and confrontational. Purely elitist PR publicity nonsense instead of educational. It's a bad look on Mozilla and it turns me off. Talk up your own features instead of smearing other p

The tweet literally says: > The thing about semver major version numbers are that they don't mean new stuff, they're a permanent reminder of how many times you got the API wrong.

The inclusion of TPM is definitely the most interesting aspect of this to me. I was initially turned off by the idea because I tend to associate them with nasty enterprise-y DRM types of stuff. But I wonder why it's included here. Mayb

I know this is an unusual view, and I'm not endorsing it for others, but please delete my data. I want to have as little as possible. Obviously, if it's something precious and needs saving, do the due diligence of backups and hard

I think the article has it backwards. The Web is a dead end. It's too far gone, nothing left to save. The internet, on the other hand, has a lot of flexibility and potential left, if only it could be allowed to grow and flourish beyond

I use a Raspberry Pi as my daily driver. I like it because the hardware is cheap and easy to replace. It sips electricity, which matters to me. It doesn't support Intel or AMD. And as a developer, I can more acutely feel differences in
