Tough shit. Lessons learned from MBA being applied to new line of MBP. Is Apple the only technology company that draws the wrath of people in this vein? Everything is less open - it's the inevitable path of more for less that the consumer d

Not good news. I do hope Google leaves the Meebo name intact so it's easy to block their garbage with Adblock. I assume shortly we'll be seeing new postings from Google on what new personal information they'll be adding to the Google brain

I've used and supported Windows PC's and Macintosh's since DOS 3.1 and Apple DOS so I do have some experience. I tried W8 Consumer and W8 Pre-release and I still don't get it. Microsoft's fanatical effort to hide things from users borders o

Sigh. How can this be Hacker News and folks not get the obvious strategy from Apple on OS X and iOS. The App Store and Gateway have nothing to do with any desire of Apple to penalize or restrict power users. It's ONLY purpose is to give a s

Sheesh. How many times will this analysis be proposed. Anyone with the slightest interest in following Apple knows that Apple will never do this for the simple reason that they don't care a crap about the low end market. The Apple experienc

Again proving that when you do something that is not in your companies nature or DNA but rather for money or reflexive response towards your competitors you will fail. It's one of the reasons why tablet=iPad. For Apple, it's technology inte

I think the psychology of "group think" is very interesting. I'm sure there could be plenty of material for PhDs if MS would let folks in to study them. I can just hear the discussion now at the top levels of MS. You know - synergy, that's

Hardware is not the goal of OLPC. But it's an important component and a Raspberry Pi is not in the same ballpark as an XO laptop. A kid in rural Peru is not going to have access to monitors, keyboards or the power required to run them. Nor

Sure. All the time. I enjoy watching news commentary on MSNBC. It's a kick to see exposed all of the despicable right-wing activities. If I want news FACTS, I stick to the NY Times, however.

So where was Microsoft and other tablet manufacturers during the iPad "revolution". Were they touting their upcoming high-resolution displays? Huge battery reserves? Easy app development platforms? Nope. ALL of the Windows and Android table

Of course. Even here people can't resist the Apple hate pronunciations. What do people think they'd be developing if it wasn't for Apple? Would the $X billions of dollars paid to App developers be made some other way? Basic g

I agree current laws are crap. But isn't is possible for someone to refrain while traveling to avoid such a circumstance? And no, medical use is crapola - folks treat this like some miracle drug.

I'd have to disagree with you on the build once, run everywhere philosophy. If you're talking about mobile apps, there's really no such thing. And textbooks (at least as Apple sees them) are a subset of mobile apps. It takes specialized env
