You do not need to enable anything. SSE instructions require aligned access, and will crash if used with wrong alignment, irrespective of the flag.

Interestingly enough, I've just checked the code from this article ( https://pzemtsov.github.io/2016/11/06/bug-story-alignment-on... ), linked by the OP's article, and guess what - CLANG generates cod

Here is the question, though: would you consider Intel HD a native part of CPU or a "some GPU". I am still quite perplexed, why everyone targets CUDA and no one tries to use ubiquitous Intel HD for AI computations. I mean, Intel

Some of the worst offenders are 16x9 monitors. Great Apple did not follow that strange fad, and stuck with 16x10.

I apologize, did not link the graphs: power consumption: https://www.ixbt.com/img/x780/r30/00/02/26/21/31power_334783... power effciency: https://www.ixbt.com/img/r30&

Yea, large effort (objcopy, strip, sstrip), that I need to do only once, after that I already know how to do this an can just put it in a shell script. Now, I would like to know how quickly you'll be able to write a quicksort implement

Here is the graph you are looking for: blue = low CPU load yellow = medium red = maximal load They measure the whole system consumption, so you need to subtract roughly 25-30 watts, to get raw CPU consumption.

So, not order of magnitude then?

Right, I understand it is not good in the cloud environments, but how exactly would you exploit it on a desktop Linux computer?

Here is a link to a test of 101 different processors, with corresponding power consumption figures. Alas it is in Russian. https://www.ixbt.com/platform/101-cpu-platform-test-2017.htm...

AFAIK hyperthreading issues are related to some narrow set of bugs (zombieload?), which are extremely difficult to exploit, at least not in a browser. Correct me if Iam wrong.

Interestingly, it was not like that previously. I'd say it slowly started with Haswells. Sandy and Ivy were often less power hungry than their TDP suggested.

Ok fine, I've used the tool called sstrip from a suite called ELFKickers. Now my hello_world.cpp (yes, c++) is 380 bytes long. I could not make it any shorter, so yeah, it is 120 bytes (50%) bigger than yours.

After some manipulations with the linker, I was able to cut the size down to 750 bytes. You cannot go below this, without hacking the ELF file format.

Sweden has high death rate per 1M capita. Significantly higher than US. It appears that they are on the way to become the worst hit country.

The problem not in the language per se, but in the linker settings. By tweaking it, you can achieve almost same size as the assembler version has.
