Although I am myself running PopOS LTS on my machine right now, for historical reasons, I see no value proposition compared to Debian 12. If their Cosmic DE does not handle scaling at least as good as KDE (which is alow bar) I won't us

ABility to ignore errors is a plus in fact. You can skip trivial non-critical problems and carry on without crashing the whole app, like it is normally done in C and C++.

It is pure demagoguery. Live without a car in Phoenix would be nightmare, compared to life without a car in Wuhan.

It does not have all that undpredictability of exceptions, and does not have nasty error handling logic of C. Do you know better alternative?

The real benefit of AVX-512 is not even "512" part, even when used with 256 bit width registers the ability to use masking and orthogonality makes life so much easier for the compiler writers and those who deploy intrinsics manual

Oh yes. FP16 is awesome for machine learning inference-only tasks. No need to fire up GPU, and so much easier to use.

There is no absolute need for a car in China, it a convenience not a necessity, like somewhere in Phoenix or Tampa. So even if China twice GDP per capita compared to US there is still would be less ownership.

Suburbs = low density. To me even Chicago is a lower than desirable density city, let alone suburbs.

This is very American way of thinking. My parents love living in their post-Soviet urban neighborhood, cause it is walkable, and every time they leave the apartment they meet their neighbors in the local park. It is total antitheis of "

Until cultural pressure of nonacceptance of ecologically irresponsible suburban car-dependent lifestyle begins to outweigh traps of familiar American lifestyle, the suburbs will be there.

This is a cultural issue. As someone who grew up in a Soviet megacity, and visited American suburbia on couple of occasion, I felt miserable in suburbs, like dying from boredom.

tried KDE on Wayland. Di not like the way fonts looked like -fatter and blurrier, as if it was not properly snapping at pixel grid. Reverted to X11.

There was an interesting variation of this theme in old french tv series "Operation Mozart": https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0253415/ . They used upper part of letters as dot and dashes of Morse code. say MT
