I'd just like to make sure you've at least considered the hypothesis your words are strongly suggesting, namely that you specialise in producing tech debt and you quit whenever that debt crosses some critical threshold. If it&#x

Sorry to ask this, but there's one common thread in your experiences which "always" follow this pattern: you were one of the engineers on them. Do you have any evidence that you're not the problem here?

That's pretty similar to Tegmark's mathematical universe theory, by the way, if you hadn't heard of it.

Well, an obvious answer is that you contribute to a terrible work environment. If this is anything more than an isolated one-off - say, if it's part of a pattern of behaviour - then woe betide you.

Which is very sad, because I think first-class support for `--dry-run` is a great way to architect a tool! Anything I write for which it's meaningful is divided into a "work out and represent in memory what I'm going to do&qu

I dunno, there are some weird places where idiomatic F# allocates even when you avoid the usual suspects, but can be trivially rewritten not to allocate. (There are even bugs which cause allocation. Try iterating over an array of `unit ->

"Hero-coding" is the kind of thing where you alone go into a fugue state for a week, and emerge on Sunday night, covered in blood and with your hair standing on end, holding a crystal redolent with eldritch power.

C# still doesn't have algebraic data types, though I believe they are slated for C# 10. Honestly (hot take) I consider a language to be unfit for purpose if it's incapable of representing dumb data without boilerplate!

It's more because the website is set up to teach the principles , the reasoning , and the possibilities behind F#, and those are basically timeless.

Linux support for .NET in general, and F# in specific, is good. You don't need Mono at all as of .NET Core a couple of years ago (and the situation has only improved going into .NET 5).

I can't help thinking that in that case this really is your fault. Remember, we're talking about SF tech salaries being given to employees who aren't in SF here; many people get by comfortably on far less. (Obviously there
