Enroot sounds interesting: https://github.com/NVIDIA/enroot It basically returns containers to their chroot origins, promising "no performance overhead." I'm looking forward to more posts on that.

It's not the point of the article, but where did he find the Wall Street Journal for $120 / year? I'm seeing an introductory rate of $20 / month for a year, and $40 / month thereafter.

Whereas some of the previous packages were freely available, the build tools now require a Visual C++ license, as I understand it. If you aren't eligible for Visual C++ Community, and you don't have Visual C++ Professional (or eq

There are two interesting aspects to this. The first, which I initially thought was the point, is cross compiling programs for Windows using Mingw-w64 (a fork of MinGW) in a container. Actually, this is just used as a dependable way to bu

> material icons are overused This is kind of a funny sentiment to me. I get that styles change, and that an interface can look dated with an old theme or old icons. Aqua looks out of place on a current Mac (although I kind of miss it)

I spend most of my time on the following computers: * "retina" Macs at 16" and 27" * Windows laptop at 13"-ish and 3000x2000 * Mac and Windows at 24" and 1920x1200 All of these look fine to me, except for Windo

One possible strategy for Trump (which would be very much out of character) would be to wait out of respect for RBG and/or the Garland precedent. Meanwhile, he uses the empty seat as a campaign issue to keep reluctant conservatives fr

Interesting to see that an RTX 3080 is faster than a dual RTX 2080, and more than twice as fast a single RTX 2080, which is consistent with one of NVIDIA's claims.

This post is a next-level look at parsing interactively in an editor or IDE. Not only do you want it to be fast, but you want it to be resilient enough to provide useful output given incomplete input. Most of my poor attempts at parsing ha

One thing I did after the RTX 30-series announcement was a back-of-the-envelope comparison of performance per dollar and performance per watt, taking NVIDIA's numbers at face value. The 3070 and 3080 are surprisingly close on both met

I'm not sure what you mean by a seed. If you mean a salt, that's no more secret than the hash. It has the effect of requiring you to crack each hash separately, but doesn't make it any harder to crack an individual hash.
