Which is why I wrote "Is it more efficient in the long run?" Ideally there would be an open probe into the project as a whole decide whether or not the switch is a good idea, and whether or not such a change should be accomplished

While C and C++ are languages that are permissive to the point that bugs can be introduced incredibly easily I don't think they need to be replaced in order to eliminate said bugs, and especially not with a language like Rust. Is it mo

When I was writing my post Jamie Zawinski (The "Mozilla guy") was what I had in mind. A great programmer but very outspoken in his social views to the point that he's entirely disconnected from reality. Lacking perspective. T

Regardless of whether or not its his personal website, my point still stands, although reading my previous post I think I should be more specific. There are quite a lot of big-name programmers that gain large amounts of ego from their work

Its not only limited to pg, either. There are lots of big-name programmers that look at their programming skills and think it means they're good to speak on other, totally unrelated topics as if they're super geniuses.

Alternatives/"solutions" aren't always better than that which they seek to replace or fix and may very well be noticeably worse. Homeless people are an annoyance but so is extremely dense housing to the point that local

I'm extremely surprised at the volume of dead comments on this post pointing out the COVID vaccines as a potential cause... NOT. I'm sure most multi-billion dollar company CEOs froth at the mouth at the idea of having an army of u

Its unfortunate how many people can't take a joke. Wozniak certainly wasn't wasting anyone's time as the bills were legal. Wozniak didn't have to deal with the SS agent either and could've easily invoked his 5th ame

Based on your post, it seems as though things in _your_ particular area are declining. If you live in San Francisco or New York, well, those places are the stinky rotten armpits of the United States (assuming you live here, of course). Poli

Not surprising at all that Cloudflare went through with its plan to terminate its contract with Kiwifarms. Reddit had the exact same process happen back in 2021 with r/NoNewNormal. People cried and whined on the site for the subreddit

I think communities should be assessed on a case-by-case basis. A larger community does typically have more potential to shift in itself. Whether this is "good" or "bad" lies in the eyes of the beholder. I think, however
