I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Duplicacy yet. It's another very solid, reliable and fast alternative. At the moment I use Restic on servers but use Duplicacy on the desktop. It can also be used on servers of course.

Duplicity is not particularly good imo. Like I said in another comment it us much slower than other options and requires full backups regularly, which is a problem with lots of data.

Good point on testing the backups.

I have never liked duplicity, too slow and requires full backups regularly. And did I mention that it is slow?

Isn't a backup of the whole os via snapshot overkill? I can bring up one or more completely configured new servers in a few minutes with Ansible (plus another few with Rancher for Kubernetes). I don't see the point in backing up a

The tool I mentioned, xtrabackup, is orders of magnitude faster than mysqldump for both backups an restores. Check it out

For MySQL you can use Xtrabackup to take online - non blocking - incremental backups to the filesystem before backing up everything off site with Restic or other.

That's what I was scared to hear although I should have expected it... The problem is my particular situation. I am not in a position at the moment where I could commit with investors etc even if I were able to handle these things (not

Thanks, Ramnode seems limited in the plans they offer (as in, if I need to resize my servers etc). I know that I kinda need to be careful with cheaper providers... Thanks for sharing that site, very useful!

Looking for this as well. Something with a good template editor and that works with any SMTP service?

I have tried/used the providers mentioned and others, and am now with UpCloud which really has great performance, better than Do etc for what I have seen. Only thing is that they don't offer much more than just servers yet.

If I remember correctly, heroku has a limit of max 10000 custom domains per app. What are you going to do when you reach that limit, out of curiosity? Thanks

I have just added it to a Shopify store to try it and it does indeed speed things up! However I am a little concerned with adding a script from another website... it requires a lot of trust, doesn'it?

Hi, thanks for your reply! The extension I'm using is https://github.com/GUI/lua-resty-auto-ssl . Unfortunately I didn't have any restrictions when I started to test it but I have disabled it for now.
