I wouldn't copy binaries between arbitrary systems (specific systems is fine), but copying configs is pretty easy with SSH as-is: #!/bin/bash -x HOST=$1 scp -o ControlMaster=auto -o ControlPersist=30 ~/.vimrc $HO

These types of articles often have a correlation vs causation problem. For example, the article says that if you want better deep sleep, then move your bed time to between 9 and 10 PM. Ok, sure the data shows that people who go to bed at t

Has anyone seen a detailed writeup on how they are performing the x86->ARM64 recompilation? I would imagine it works something like a software hypervisor once the individual instructions are translated?

Hey, super excited to hear that all of this is being open sourced. Visual programming isn't something I have had positive experience with in the past, but it seems like you have introduced new concepts and new UX that may change that.

Visual programming languages lower the barrier of entry for _programming_ not software engineering. There are many mature and successful examples of visual programming languages that do just that (LabView, Scratch, etc...)

Here is the snapshot from when this was submitted to HN about a year and a half ago: http://archive.is/V2VwE My question: what has changed? Has anyone addressed any of the fundamental questions that were posed last time thi

I don't know about that. Packaging and web frameworks are issues with a language ecosystem. Not having a strong type system is an issue with the language itself.

CTCI was pretty fun to work through, but the questions were extremely superficial and the answers were often quite flawed. It is disappointing to see major companies rely on that style of interviewing, especially for senior positions.

This is why I prefaced my response :) every one places different importance on different things. Glad you have something that works for you. Vim does show the age of its design from time to time. The worst has got to be Java, where you end

So I don't want to tell you to change your workflow. Like most things that evolve over time, they are the way they are for good reason. No one way is better than another. That said, here is how I do what you described above in Vim. The

Ok, say you are tracked by google, facebook, adzerk, and twitter. If you set DNT, you are now only tracked by google, facebook, and twitter. Yeah, it was pretty much pointless, but you are being tracked by one less network, so it worked t

I don't think anyone here is saying it is a great solution. There are plenty of people without Ad blockers that have it checked though, see Internet Explorer users.

Yeah, I went down this path with my router. Found some list, wrote a script to keep it up to date, and blocked it at my DNS server. I found that it was ~80% effective, and broke about ~5% of the websites I used. Its super good for target

Insurance is such a mine field. Tmobile for example will charge you $175 deductible for a claim. Add that into the $10/month for the plan, and you might as well just go buy a used phone off craigslist if something goes wrong.

Yeah, devices dying that fast isn't the norm. That said, Apple will take better care of you inside or outside warranty. To be fair, that has been Apple's schtick for a long time, google is just getting into this business model.
